Bankers Drafts

Hi,

Can you just walk into a branch to get a bankers draft or do you need to make an appointment. I sign contracts on a house on Friday and need to take a bankers draft for my deposit

You don't need an appointment. Should be able to be done straight over the counter. Just make sure you take ID with you as a precaution as most places will need it. Depending on who you bank with, there may also be a fee

Given the short timescale, you may be better paying for a CHAPS transfer which will get there and clear the same day.

Make sure you have your solicitor's bank account details before doing this!
