Click your start menu button, right click the 'my computer' entry and select 'properties'. Select the 'hardware' tab and there will be a button for device manager on there.

If any devices are not working correctly then they'll generally have a yellow mark next to them, when the correct drivers are installed then this will disappear.

XP come's with a reasonably good driver database but it's better really to get drivers from the manufacturer or supplier website.

I loaded all the drivers. The screen is now the right size. All I have to do now is connect to my router, download the drivers for my Netgear dongle and away we go. Many thanks all. I am quite proud of what I managed to do
