pc freezing

my pc has just started freezing when using a web browser
it will freezing when i use ebay and search for something on there
using the main search bar rather than any addon or toolbar . it's not just ebay when this happens it is other websites but luckily not this one
i've tried f/fox safe mode with all disabled and have tried an older version ,
it also does it with i/e as well
i installed skype at the weekend , but i've now removed that just in case
it was causing a problem but this doesn't seem to be the case and i've done a system restore
o/s vista - have to reboot to get things moving ,
