I had a crazy moment and changed the whole wedding theme, but my mum loves my dress!

I had a bit of a panic on friday, i was looking at a few things and just sat there and thought,
NO this just isnt out there enough for me, im being to normal and thats not who we are.

So i have changed the colour scheme from fuschia pink & white to vibrant colours, like fushia, orange, aqua, lime green.

I have also decided to have flowers which i never thought i would do as i have fallen in love with gerbera's for some reason and you can get them in a whole mutitude of colours.

I've changed the cake design from something classic white with minimal detail to a vibrant in your face ''thats not a wedding cake'' design. In the same vibrant colours as the flowers.

Now we are a lot happier, as we are expressing ourselves. And i feel i can have a lot more fun with everything.

The colour choices are a bit out there and my mum pulled the ugliest face when i told her but it will either work brilliantly or it wont and it will just look like a jumbled mess.

I was begginning to panic and starting to feel the pressure, now i feel calm and relaxed again.

This is my inspiration and my cake

I also took my mum to view my dress, she was a little annoyed that she wasnt there when i choose it, but she would have been NO help and would have just said i looked amqazing in everything, so i took her to see it and at forst she pulled that ugly disapproving face, so i was nearly in tears thinking OMG she hates it and ive paid the deposit for it, but the dress still was on the hanger and to be honeest i puleed the exact same face when i saw it on the hanger.

When the woman threw back the curtains and i walked out my mum burst into tears, saying that is stunning and i would have never in a million years guessed that you would pick a dress like but but its perfect for you. What a relief.

I think that's fantastic, colours are great, and cake looks amazing!! :) You want to enjoy your day and do it exactly the way you want it.. don't go along with things just because it's what everybody else does.. make it you own, it sounds like you have some great ideas x

I so pleased i made the decision to change, it was all begginning to look a bit white with a splash of pink in my head, i was worrying that i would disapear into the background. This is definately more us. DF gets to wear an orange waistcoat and cravat like he wanted and DS gets to wear lime green just like he wanted before i said NO its pink and thats that.

This way with having such a wide colour choice, everyone gets to wear a colour they are happy with, my dad now cant wait to go to the kilt shop and find the funkiest vibrantest looking kilt, he says ive given him the opportunity to wear something he has always wanted to wear but has never been able to.

And luckilly i have a fantastic florist who is just as crazy as i am so i know the flowers will look fantastic.

I think that your 'new' wedding will look fantastic! I'm getting married in the Caribbean so I want lots of bright colours myself both at my wedding at at my reception party when we get home, I want you to show me everything you get so I can steal ideas! I love the bridesmaid dresses in the picture you posted, that's just the type of thing I'm after, I love aqua blue and pink and I want splashes of orange, green and purple too!

    That cake is amazing!

Its fab - the cake is fab, the colour scheme is fab and as for dresses - I tend to find that if they look great on the hanger then they don't look great on whereas the one that doesnt look so great always looks fab on:D
  • My daughter did exactly the same thing! She booked a 'formal' UK wedding but was increasingly unhappy at the way things were so formal and timed exactly - that's not how they are so I made her sit down and asked her what her ideal would be and it wasn't what she had so she bit the bullet, lost the (rather large) deposit and started again with her dream wedding abroad but still she felt that she must have a formal sit down meal, again I asked what she and her oh would like and it wasn't that! Now she has exactly what she wants, a garden wedding followed by a very relaxed beach party and bbq. It's your day it should be what yo u want and reflect your personalities.
I think the cake is fab and all those lovely vibrant colours will be awesome!
  • that wedding cake is absolutely georgous and i love the dresses and all of the colours, well done for being so brave to change your mind as alot of people probably wouldn't have.

  • it looks amazing - love that cake x well done on going with what you want rather than what's expected!
When my mum told my Dad some of our ideas - felt flowers and real cheese instead of a cake etc She said to him - "it's a bit quirky isn't it?" and he replied "well it suits" - biggest complement ever!
