Hi Guys,
Finally I received my SAR request back from GE money which I spent the weekend reading through.
I applied for a £25000 loan through Norton Finance in May 2003, ppi was £2775.86 on the application form it gives a FISA number of 3594905 does this mean they were registered and goverened by FISA?
Also the SAR does give NF as broker but does not include who the ppi was actually insured with only an underwriter number which is P50CLW any ideas what this means?
Any pointers gratefully received as I am a little confused :undecided on who to send the first letter to.
Thanks

Hi there
Glad you received your SAR details.
However FISA are not a regulator as such unfortunately, but check them out here anyway so you will know more of who they actually are and what they do:
http://www.fisa.co.uk/
The main regulators as such would have been GISC (General Insurance standards Council), then the FSA taken over on 14 Jan 2005, but not all were protected by GISC either.
If you check further down the thread, "Anychance" a poster on these threads have some issues with NF, and now to what I know fo going through this with the insurer/underwriter.
Many of us are or have gone this direction if the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) are unable to adjudicator cases who were not governed by those 2 regulators, where the insurer/underwriter would or should have been.
Lots of us have been caught out because of this, if ours were not goverened on the date/year we taken out our finance the the FOS cannot help to investigate.
It is up to you if you want to rule this out yourself first, write to the broker to reclaim and if they do not uphold and help you then move on to the insurer, then if they say no, then move on to the FOS, its another direction to try if nothing is resolved with the broker.;)
Good luck.

Please keep us posted, that would be very helpful, cheers.

In my experience, GE send you *most* of the relevant information with the SAR, deciding to produce other more important documents at a later date when it suits them.0
