Help with Lloyds TSB Cash Account

Hi,
Im looking to get a basic bank account. I have had bad debt with Barclays and Smile in the past. So i guess this only leaves the Lloyds TSB account with a Visa Debit card. Oh i also have bad debt with Natwest and Abbey
I have applied for one yesterday and was declined. I have no CIFAs markers, no outstanding debt with Lloyds or ever had an account with them.
When i applied over the phone, by the way this is the second time i have applied, and this happened again, that they need to go to through another department.
Here they checked my previous addresses. I told them i had a copy of Equifax credit report with all previous addresses. They then told me i had been declined. I sort of got the feeling it was due to me not mentioning a previous address where i have had credit from but may have been on my Experian report.
Has anyone else had this issue?? and if so can i appeal the decline?
and if there is anyone on here from Lloyds who can let me know if the possible reason for a decline was me not mentioning an old address that would great!?
Thanks in advance

it say apply at your local branch (not online or phone just in branch)
Just bring your proof of identity and address into your local branch.
What proof of Identity can I use?
When you apply for an account with us, we’ll carry out some standard credit checks. We can still open an account for you if you have a poor credit history. But, if your credit reference agency file shows that you have a history of fraud or are an undischarged bankrupt, we won’t be able to accept your application
when you apply on phone it was more like a full account not a cash account0 -
Well thats what i thought. I asked why am i being searched for a full current account when i specifically asked for a basic account due to my bad credit.
They said they have to as the system would then inform them of the Cash account that i may be entitled to and that was the only way for them to do it?0 -
Try applying in branch0

Just had a reply letter from the Co-op from their cashminder account. They have said that due to discrepancies on my application they are not able to offer me an account yet.
This must have something to do with the addresses. I made an application about a year ago and used addresses that i thought were correct. This time i got my credit report from Equifax and used the dates they had to see if this would help.
Obviously not as they must believe im hiding something from an address which is totally incorrect?!
Any advice for me to open account? i thought re-apply for the lloyds tsb cash account and take a copy of both credit reports as this is the only way i can see me getting an account with either lloyds tsb or coop, altough the coop is not going to happen i think.0 -
If you are supplying different information when you are applying to these banks then you are going to end up with CIFAS markers all over your file for application fraud.
Even though you are making a genuine mistake, it will not look like this to the banks and the automated systems.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Well now you can see what a struggle its going to be for me to get any account.
Im not even sure myself anymore which are the correct details. :rotfl:
I definately moved into the house in May 2008 but the electoral roll on my credit file says September 2008. This must be due to the register not being updated or something.
So now if i apply in say 12 months will they have record of this?
At the minute i presume any bank that credit checks me is going to see these CIFAs markers and decline me, even though they are not meant to.0 -

Most banks run your application through fraud prevention/detection databases. These databases hold records of your previous application information. So when you are supplying all these different addresses and dates it will be flagged as possible fraud all the time.
I would get your address details sorted and dates etc and then go into a bank and explain what has happened. Make sure you have all the evidence etc and do not hide anything.0 -
Yeah true. Even though i have nothing to hide i can see why the banks think it looks strange.
Plus i have only been on the electoral roll where im living at the moment and the address before my previous one due to small lengths at each address.
My issue is that they only ever ask for the last 3 years yet addresses older than that are affecting my application each time.0 -

Your older addresses will most likely be linked on your credit report, this will allow the banks to see the data at those addresses even when you do not disclose the address.
It may take you some time to get this sorted.0 -
See i know all my previous addresses i just cant think for the life of me when i live at each one.
Now my equifax report doesnt have all the addresses so maybe i should get the Experian one and see what addresses are on there and then reapply with all the addresses at my disposal? maybe this will help?0
