Options
Hi,2 months ago ago my paypal account took 56p from my bank account which i owed paypal. My bank account didnt have the 56p in it so i was charged £20,i now have another charge of £20 for the 2nd month.I Have paid £10 in and the debt is now £30 and i will be charged another £20 on the 24th of this month.I cannot get an overdraft due to credit history, and cant afford to pay the £30 all in one. Do i have to pay it before the 24th?

Ok, have you asked the bank to waive this as a gesture of goodwill?
Are you under 18 years of age?
The £20 is a maintenance charge ie for exceeding the overdraft and is charged 21 days after the statement date.

  • The exact same thing happend to me about 5 years ago.

I just went in branch and told them that they must agree that the charge is stupid and they took it off there and then.
  • Im over 18 and went in the bank a few weeks ago to complain.I was asked to go and sit in a room with a horrible little man with the worst pair of glasses i`d ever seen who punched a few keys and told me i needed to break the cycle of charges.I left the room glad he was wearing those horrible glasses as it stopped me breaking something on his face!.

Hate your last sentence but I have to assume you are young. Have you read the other part of my post which will at least help to avoid further charges?
If it was your first charge, I would have negotiated with them to waive one charge so that you were on an even keel.
