Selling house - buying another.

Hi,I was wondering if somebody could give me some advice please.
Firstly we(b/f and myself)have seen an house we would like to buy,the thing is we have not put our house on the market yet,am i right in thinking that we have to sell our house first before we can put an offer in for this other house.
We currently have no mortgage on our house as we paid it off 4 months ago. Many thanks, Libby .

You can make an offer on a house at any time, but it would be accpted subject to the sale of your house.

Yes really you should have a buyer for your house before anyone is going to take you serious as a buyer.

It is unlikely that anyone would accept an offer & stop marketing their house with an unproceedable buyer. I know I certainly wouldn't & most estate agents would recommed their clients to keep the house on the market in this circumstances.

You need to get your house on the market asap & hope for an early sale if you really hope to get this other house.

    Good luck.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

If you have no mortgage on your current house you are in the same position as a FTB, you just need a mortgage offer and then you are in a position to proceed.

Are you going to sell your current house or let it? Even if you intend to sell, you could apply for a mortgage and pay the mortgage off with the proceeds of the sale. If your house sells quickly, you may not need the mortgage at all.
