Glasses broken

Hi,
This might seem a bit trivial, but I bought some reading glasses online here at Sight Station last October.
They are great little items that fold up into a small case and I got 3 for £25.
2-3 weeks ago one of the screws fell out and left me with a lens hanging off. A week later the second pair lost a screw, and then last Friday while I was in a lecture at University another screw fell out of my last pair, followed by another screw on the same pair leaving both lenses hanging off.

I emailed them last week asking about fixing them and this is the reply I got back today :
'Hello
Thank you for your email.

We offer a repair/replacement service on web purchases on goods returned back within a reasonable time frame. As per terms and conditions.

Your purchase was October 2009. However if you would like to send them back to the address at the bottom we will inspect them for repair.

Please note a replacement is not guaranteed.'

Should I not be covered by some sort of guarantee? I thought everything had to be guaranteed. Or is that all they expect their glasses to last?

Just wondering .... anyone know?

Thanks

Mags :)

sounds like just a couple of screws. Can you not pop into a optician im sure they would be able to help. I know specsavers will do this as i have taken specs in that i have bought from elsewhere and they have replaced the screws.

Oh would they do that even though I didnt buy them there?
Thanks for the tip, I will go and ask them when I get time to go into town.
It is just a few screws, but they are so small Its hard to see, and the seem to have some kind of tiny bolt on the other side.

    Thanks :j

oh and I had specs from Optical express that I bought from them a couple of years ago and when the nose pad fell off they charged me £5 to replace both of them even though I bought them there.....

Try a spec. repair kit from poundland.
  • I got a glasses repair kit in a pound shop a couple of years ago as my prescription sunglasses had a tendency to come apart! It was about £2 and included spare screws and a tiny screwdriver, plus a magnifying glass - might be worth a look to see if these are still avalable - or try Ebay!
