Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Runner beans are out because the patch is directly below our living room window. So I'm thinking I'll use my spare seeds to arrange things in a pretty pattern - perhaps a border of alternating beetroot, leeks, and cabbage around the edges and some broad beans and chard in the middle.
