Spy Doctor!?- Can you help.please?

Hiya-erm, I am sooo shamefaced, I don't know where to start... I have downloaded
the free edition of Spy Doctor and now all my applications appear to have been erased!

All I am getting onscreen is the following message:-

"C:/Windows/system32/rundll32.exe
Application not found"

I cannot download and play anything!!!. Is it possible the anti-virus software contained a virus itself.?

I have to admit to being a total newbie and technophobe when it comes to computer problems, so I would welcome any advice any other OP could offer.

yes more than likely anything you download you should scan with your normal anitvirus first before any installing.

Can you provide a link to where you downloaded it from?

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')

Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')

Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

However, I have downloaded Registry Easy - but I can't run it!

All I get is - Documents and Settings/user/my documents/downloads/Registry Easy. exe
Application Not Found:eek:

Does that mean the Registry is totally corrupted?

As for the other OP, AlienRik- - Are you asking Basil1234 a question? Or are you asking me to carry out a task? Sorry- I am not sure I even understand the instructions! - Well, I did tell you I was a complete newbie.

Have just been told I need to re-format the Registry. - £25! Seems the better option for somebody of my (in)experience!

hmmmm basieman try following alienriks post first maybe spware s**t embbed rik will help you out hes good at the logs will spot the rubbish then after that i would suggest my post after that.

and the link business he is on about where did you download you so called free version of spyware doctor. there are alot of spoof sites out there.

Hi, guys - Thanks for bearing with me on this. I downloaded Spy Doctor from pctools. I have also tried the CPL association fix. I have had it running since 1.00pm. I have had to abort. I had hoped that it would have cured it, but I am still getting application not found.
How long should the repair take and should I re-install?

I have downloaded the "filehippo" ....but application is STILL not found so I can't run it!

Perhaps £25 would solve a lot of problems!

Hi AlienRik,

If I uninstall CPL and then re-install it - can you tell me what is supposed to be happening onscreen? I had it running for about 4hours this afternoon and whilst the numbers bar at the bottom of the page kept running, they seemed to stop at about 589... something and then go back to 400...?! Is cpl supposed to run down the list, cos it just stayed at the top of the list on task manager. Also it was not on applications

Incidentally, I have to correct myself - whilst the systems are downloading they are not running. Thats where the applications not found comes in. Sorry if I misled you.

As the saying goes "Times are hard and friends are few, so if I can avoid spending the £25 - so much the better:beer:

Latest.... I have just gone into "Tools" to remove download and it's coming up "rundll32"

Back to square 1?

Don't give up just yet, have a look at this thread below, you might have to copy rundll32.exe into your system32 folder.
