Saute a chopped onion, handful of chopped mushrooms and chicken (I use leftover chicken stripped from a roast), add a tin of condensed chicken soup, half a cup of milk and some crumbled gorgonzola, season with lots of fresh black pepper and stir in cooked pasta twists. :drool:I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

If you like smoked mackerel try this;
Saute an chopped onion & garlic until soft (mushrooms too if you like), add half a pack of soft cheese with garlic & herbs & a squeeze of lemon juice. Let it soften & combine then toss in some roughly chopped smoked mackerel & heat through. Add your cooked pasta & that's it, although you can top with parmesan if you like.
It's fab & very economical with some crusty bread.0 -
pasta bake with leek and tomato is one of our faves! chop up two leeks, add a big dollop of butter and a splash of white wine and cook on a really low heat til the leeks are soft and sticky. empty a tin of tomatoes into the bottom of a dish, put a layer of cooked pasta on top, and then the leek mixture on top of that. cover the leeks with really strong grated chedder and cook in the oven on top heat until the cheese is melted and crispy! yummy! (but not that good on the waistline!)You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

I admit it sounds lovely, but a large pot of double cream??? Good grief - it's a heart attack waiting to happen!!!!!!
I shall try it without the cream but with a large pot of low fat fromage frais!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I prefer to use creme fraiche for pasta sauces, I find cream a bit too rich personally.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
A family favourite here (called Favourite recipe by my kids, they love it so much), is as follows:
Chop smoked back bacon into small pieces and fry.
Add two tubs creme fraiche (full fat is best but you can use the lower fat version if you're watching the calories)
Add some grated strong cheddar and warm mixture through gently, add to pasta when cooked (rigatoni or penne ar best).
Finish off with lots of black pepper.
(You could also add some finely sliced mushrooms.)

for very lazy nights - garlic, courgette and olive oil......... i like it with spagetti best!
and adding in a few toasted pine nuts (and after scoffing at suggestions i have to admit that just putting them in a dry frying pan for a couple of mins makes a huge difference!) always helps!
or eggs, creme fresh and chives to make carbonara.
(i like pasta sauces that can be made while the pasta is boiling! for fast food that actually has nutrition!):happyhear0 -
How do you make a tuna pasta bake?:o0

I am going to have one for tea tonight! This recipe will serve about 2-3 people.
Put the oven on to about Gas mark 6 to warm up.
Next put 150g pasta on to boil - follow the instructions but boil it for about 2 mins less than whatever time it says on the packet - eg boil 12 min pasta for just 10 mins (it will cook further during the 'baking' part of the recipe and so you don't want it to be completely cooked at this stage). Strain and put to one side.
While the pasta is cooking, saute one chopped onion in a large saucepan until just tender. Add in a can of chopped tomatoes, some basil and black pepper and a squeeze of tomato puree and simmer for 5-10 mins or so to reduce it slightly.
Drain 1 tin tuna (I use tuna in spring water, but any will do) and stir into the pan, and then stir in the cooked pasta.
Transfer the whole mixture into an ovenproof dish. Top the pasta mix with grated cheese and bake in the oven for around 20-30 mins until the cheese is bubbling and turning brown in colour.
Serve with salad and crusty bread!0 -
For a cheap quick meal, try pesto, with toasted pine nuts & lashings of grated parmesan,
or finely chop & fry some bacon, cook your pasta, drain & toss in bacon pan, with 2 tbsps pesto & add some pine nuts - scrummy!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
