New router and now some websites not loading?

Hi,

I've received a new router from Aol which we set up on Saturday. Since then we can't access various websites. Applications such as Cafe World and Farmville on Facebook won't load (however facebook itself is fine), national lottery website, preview pictures on amazon. My boyfriend says there's no reason why the router would effect these but it seems to be the only new element? I've downloaded new flash and java and tried these websites in IE8 and the newest versions of Firefox and Google Chrome. Does anyone have any ideas as it's rather frustrating?

Thanks in advance.

do these sites work without the router in place? (directly connect PC to internet via modem if you can)

What router have you got? Check the MTU settings in the router as AOL seem to be having a problem with some sites. It seems that changing the setting from the default 1500 to 1390 cures these problems.
  • It's an external modem/router. The websites don't work either on the computer that's wired to the modem or using a wireless laptop.
