That's shocking! I remember over 20 years ago (about 22) one of my friends' baby got ill at about 6 weeks & needed surgeryand because she was BF him, she was treated as apatient and was admitted and fed etc. You would think that 20+ years on we would be far more enlighted.
And that was Blackburn Royal Infirmary0 -

It may have changed in recent years or even months.

It's appaling, my hospital is pretty much the same. I had my first child and was not only exhausted and tired but starving by the time we were sorted out and on the ward. They told me that I would have to wait for breakfast the following morning! It was 7.00pm and I hadn't eaten since that morning. It's an absolute disgrace, and maternity nurses should be a little more sympathetic. Needless to say I couldn't wait to get out of there.
So sorry to hear that this is the case for you, it's a stressful enough time without having to go hungry especially when you are wanting to BF your new baby.
Hoping to save a little more money here and there, to spend on treats/educational items for children :j0 -
Congratulations nanny!
How reassuring it must be for your DD that you and OH are fighting this one on her behalf.
My DD was a patient in the heart ward in Birmingham Childrens Hosp a couple of years ago-there was a SCBU unit on the ward and I know one of the mums was expressing and was telling me she was finding it difficult feeding herself with a newborn in SCBU and trying to get on with expressing. I didn't think much of it at the time, but having now processed the thought, I guess she wasn't being fed if she was having that chat.
The fat laden fried chicken/chips/bolognaise that shimmered with the lard my DD was served did make me question the purpose of the healthy eating displays I saw around the buildingWho made hogs and dogs and frogs?
