I'm new to British Gas after moving into a new apartment, i've been here just over a week. I was trying to add energysmart to my account with British Gas and it says that i have used and estimated amount of £45.61!!! This seems a huge amount considering we are only really here in the evening using electricity 5pm-11pm, and we werent even here at the weekend. In our old apartment it was an average of £40 a month. Can anyone suggest why they are estimating such a huge amount + who the best supplier is to go with? Thanks.

Did you take a reading when you moved in? Take another reading now and you should be able to enter the readings onto their website and then they will tell you exactly what you have used.

    Hi

After taking princessleah_'s advice can you post back with and actual reading and the cost?

Re: suppliers: Click on any of the:Price Comparisons with cashback/wine Eneryghelpline, Moneysupermarket, USwitch, UK Power etc.

Did the agent give you a Welcome Pack when you moved in? The meter details might be in there?

In that case you need to give the agents a call and ask where it is or knock one of your neighbours and ask where theirs is as yours might be in the same place. You should have checked the reading that the agents gave you anyway.

No. £40 a week in winter is more like £1000 per year or probably less.

What is your consumption in kWh?
  • Is it saying that is what you have used so far or that it is your predicted spend? When I used energysmart the predicted was always way out and bore no relation to use at all.
