Hiya, just saw your thread and the bit about oil fired heating freezing. We have been in the same house for 9 years and our oil heating freezes in really low temperatures. We have had various things done to the system over the years but nothing has sorted it. We have come to accept it now and have to leave the heating on permanently if the temperatures gets down below -3. Boiler repair man says this is sensible and it would cost more to properly sort it out (if this is possible) than the oil we use.
Normally this is OK because it rarely gets that cold but we have had really silly temperatures here for the last 10 days - temperatures didnt get above -8 yesterday. We have not managed this very well and have now run out of oil. With oil costing about 80p a litre this is a really worry, just glad temperatures are supposed to rise over the weekend!0 -
Heating fixed and I will NOT turn it off again. DH managed to fix it, so we sat for 18 hours with no heat for nothing!! But it is fixed.
YL - we haven't had temp above -3 for days now either. Just said on news it could go to -15!

Vodka and bearskins. And their houses are probably built with more heat-saving included, but the first two I definitely know to be correct as I knew two girls from there once. Please call me 'Pickle'
