hiya red, ouchies to the toe hon!!!
word of advice, DO NOT use antibiotic cream as it can seal bacteria in and not allow the wound to breath. use antiseptic wipes, a bit like the ones you get in the little packets give it a wipe and then use fabric plaster. you need it to dry out and plastic plaster will encourage it to sweat therefore increasing the risk of infection.
I'm really sorry i wasnt around when you had our wobble the other day after the support you have given me recently. will be there in future i promise.
have a good day hon xdebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
Oh thanks for that - cleaned it with sterlised water this morning so that was good that I didn't have the cream
It looks clean enough and I put a sterile pad on with micropore tape so it could breath and have asked DH to get some more but I do need to find some kind of guard as I cant get shoes on and am wearing fitflops and crapping myself that I will knock them!
Hey please, its cool - I am sure I will have another 100 wobbles before I am debt free living in a nursing home!LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.

in the pharmacies you can buy corn sponges that slide over your toe. cut the side off one in a "u" shape, slide it on so the gap is above the nailand just plaster over the top. that should protect it from knocks etc without the risk of something sticking to the nail beddebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

Last year I tripped and pulled my big toe nail away from the nail bed. It was actually standing at 90 degrees from the toe. It hurt too much for me to bend it back flat so I took it to A & E where the nurse tried to do what I had just told her I couldn't do. I swore & kicked her (involuntarily I assure you) so she had to give me an anaesthetic before she could cut it off.
I know exactly what you are going through and cringed in sympathy when I read it.
Keep your foot up as much as possible for the next 24 hours.
My nail grew back fine by the way.0 -
