Hope the consultation goes well. And that you have written down all your questions, and that you take a pad to write the answers on, or better yet someone else to write the answers on and ask the questions you forgot you wanted to ask!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Aww go on just a little peek, you know you want to;):rotfl:
Thank you, I wrote some stuff down last night but trying to think of some more. Got to go on my own because DH has to go to work:(
Will let you knowSealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -
Neuro visit didn't go so well, I asked about brain surgery to stop the seizures but he was really patronising. He said "Well someone has been doing to much googling" He reckoned I had to much brain damage for it to work. I had a stroke at 18 and a serious car accident 10 years ago.
He said he may see about doing an MRI to confirm.
I am so disappointed:(Sealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -

Yes, me too. But at least he is doing the MRI, and maybe something will show up there which can be 'worked on'.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I'm not convinced it will ever happen, he just seemed to be fobbing me off. He just added another drug to my ever increasing pile and sent me on my way.:(
I've had enough of fighting:(Sealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -
its the fighting that gets to you isnt it,especially on the bad days,i saw my neuro this week the best he could come up with was maybe i should come off all the meds(tegratol, epilim, rivitrol)as they dont make me better,my argument is that they stop me being worse(which i have been in the early days).Last year he put me on a new drug lacosimide(sp?)which after 3 weeks made me feel suicidal so i was taken off them immediately only to take an overdose 10 days later.
In the early days i had a brain op to remove a cyst which they hoped would stop the seizures(it didnt)the op should have taken an hour it took 5 and they didnt know how i would be when i woke up,luckily i was ok apart from the headache from hell for 24 hours.
sorry i`m going on but i`m abit p*****ed off, usually how a visit to hospital gets me!and to top it all this week at another hospital appt found out i`ve got a faulty heart valve...0 -
Poor thing, dont let the doc get you down. Many of these consultants, as great as they are at diagnosis and surgery etc, dont have a great bed side manner.
At least you have given him something to think about and he knows you are really determined to get your seizures under control. So if there is a way with surgery he may come up with it or he may find something else that works for you.
As much as you hate the drugs, seizures and everything else that goes along with a chronic condition I'd advise to try and not fight it. Dealing with the condition and side effects takes enough energy without also fighting yourself. We can all help you with that here but do you have a local epilepsy support group?0
