Winemaking calendar?

  • Hi

Am a new winemaker, started with a rowan berry wine which is ready to be bottled soon and tasted ok when racking it ...

Can someone post their parsnip wine recipe? I would like to start one off, but most recipes state adding yeast nutrient - is this necessary as I don't have any at the moment?

    Many thanks

Yes Pumpkinlife I just x5 the recipe when I am doing 5 galls instead of one.

I have recently bottled 3 galls of rice and raisin and 4 galls of cranberry and blueberry. I racked off 8 galls of rosehip and 4 galls of apple wine last night and both tasting good but not quite ready. I bought enough apple juice and white grape juice and sugar today to start off 8 galls of apple wine. It's one of my favourites and my family's too and makes a really good white wine a bit like a Pinot Grigio. I was also really pleased with the 16 galls of elderberry wine I recently bottled. I did it in four batches, 2 first brewings of 5 galls each and then 2 second brewings of 3 galls each using the same elderberries. Each batch tasted completely different and I mixed them until I got the best flavour before bottling.

I use the cheapest apple juice I can find, usually Aldi.
