Do you think they have it here in Normandy
I'm guessing so?
I googled "gorse Normandy" and got hits, so you should be okay. Go to images.google.com and type "gorse" to see what it looks like (sorry, I can't do links as a new user).Norman_Bean wrote: »Sterlising is the worst bit isn't it? Like having babies again x
LOL... hmmm, makes me glad I stuck with cats

If you keep up with that I shall have to buy that book myself. We don't do hydrometer readings on our wine (yes, naughty, I know), so some of ours is lethal.R.I.P. Bart. The best cat there ever was. :sad:0 -
Thanks ThriftyFelicity x Just googled - I recognise it! Is it the prickly bush?
Do you use just the flowers? Will see what Mollie says xBon App's Scraps!

Well she says September and a gallon of gorse flowers .... was given to people with 'dropsy' in her grandmothers day

Yup, it's very prickly and you just use the flowers.0

Pumpkinlife - I'm impressed that you have an official nettle patch :rotfl: Sterlising is the worst bit isn't it? Like having babies again x How did you get on with the parsnip?
It's not that big (honest!) so I will be supplementing with foraged nettles. Shame, but the neighbours probably wouldn't take kindly to having a 'nettle farmer' next door!
Finished the must at about 9pm, had to add the yeast and pectolase this morning as it still hadn't cooled down enough by 11.30pm. Also had to hash together instructions from 2 different recipes, in two different sets of units . Crossing fingers and hoping for the best, whilst eatimg lots of parsnip and sultana curry!
missychrissy - I did enjoy myself prepping the must, so hopefully will go on to make bigger and better batches. Do you just multiply the recipes to 5 gallons, all of my books have 1 gallon batches only?0 -
:rotfl:at Nettle Farmer x
I'm sure the parsnip concoction will be great x
Just made some fab and rather professional looking (if I say so myself!) wine bottle labels on the old printer ... need to stick them on now ... sure I've read about milk or flour as glue.
Do you all use gummed paper or do it OS?

I remember when I was a kid that we used to make glue from flour and water.0

that's probably what I'm thinking about. I'll have a go with that x thanks xBon App's Scraps!
