Neighbors Illegal Window

I though with planning law a ground floor window didn't need any special permission to be installed?I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling

Depending on the size of the extension planning permission may not have been required at all (window or not)0

I don't know why people appear to be so anxious about others being able to see into their gardens. Is this a new thing or has there been a resurgence of naturism or something?0

Maybe it's a question of what plants you've got in the greenhouse

Hi
Thanks for all the replies!
I’m not too bothered about the window being there as it’s frosted. It would be interesting to stand in my garden, knock on my neighbour’s window and ask to borrow sugar.
They have taken down the bordering fence, built the extension (with window) and never put the fence back up which would have covered the window.
My main worry is does this window have a “right to light”, meaning that I can’t build my own extension next to the neighbouring one ‘cos it would block the window.
On a similar note, what if I planted a tree in front of it. Could the neighbour ask for the tree to be cut down?
Thanks0 -
Ask the local authority's ruddy planning department! Not all LA's have the same rules as far as I know and there's only one planning officer who posts here, and irregularly at that0

I think you are within your rights to build a fence right in front of their window, as long as the fence is on your land?Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
