First I would try Sentinel x400 sludge remover www.screwfix.com part no 89458. If this did not improve matters, try Sentinel X200 Boiler Descaler part no 43140.
Another way is to manually clean the rads if they are blocked. The symptom of this is hot at the top and cold at the bottom. The sludge forms an inverted V in the rad. The cheapest way of removing this is to take rad off wall(drain system, turn off valves each end, use plenty of rag to catch black sludge), into garden and flush through with garden hose. repeat with remaining rads.
Another way is to remove one rad. Attach garden hose to each of the pipes, plastic hose when warm will just slip over 15mm pipe, fix with jubillee clip. One hose to garden tap, other hose to drain. Then flush each rad in turn with others turned off. Use lowest water pressure possible to get flow through as full mains water pressure can damage valves etc.
Once system is clean, there should not be a build up of air, hence no need to fit auto air bleed.

How did you determine that a banging noise from near the boiler means that the system needs flushing? Thats a bit like deciding that the fuel system in the car needs a good cleaning out because the offside front wheel is squeaking! Well not exactly but I hope you get my drift.

If it does need flushing I would recommend X800. Stronger and faster.
If your boiler has an aluminimum heat exchanger don't leave it in for more than 3 hours max.0 -

Did they explain why it was banging???? Imo lack of water in the system air lock etc.. But why has it got a air lock???? You need to have a water test of the heating.
Powerflushing wont cure the problem if it has been piped up incorrectly, by-pass valve closed or incorectly set could make it pump over, adding more oxygen to the water=sludge build-up.
There are many types of banging etc, you need a good plumber/heating guy with experiance. I do many powerflush's but it is not the cure-all, i can spend 5+hrs flushing then another 5hrs correcting the problem.A thankyou is payment enough .0 -
