  • I'd just say to me it sound lovely - but to others it might seem a bit fussy. Although I think with the choices you've got you've picked best. What is the veggie option? We've gone for lamb and veggie options so if you don't like lamb you will eat veggie!!!

Most of it is great except for the fish (am allergic to the stuff) - also there is no vegetarian option (some veggies don't eat fish)...rather than fish I would have liked to have seen a proper veggie option eg. sunblush tomato & redpepper tartlet or whatever it is that veggies eat.

Kylie said that she hasn't got any veggies coming so probably isn't a major worry

Your menu does sound very nice, but me personally, i wouldn't be able to have a starter or main :(

    Entree

Roasted, boned quail with hazelnut dressed roquette salad, caramelized oranges, honey yoghurt dressing - Quail, yuk.

    or

Skewered scallops and prawns wrapped in pancetta, fennel and apple salad, mango butter sauce - don't eat fish, neither does OH

    Main Course

Roasted lamb loin, stuffed with lemon, rosemary and capers, fondant potato, rustic ratatouille, lamb jus - don't eat lamb, neither does OH

    or

Market fish, tian of Mediterranean vegetables, crisp basil, sauce epice - fish probs again!

How about a fruit salad starter, or melon starter etc? And for main, as someone else has pointed out, what about chicken or veggie option?

However, could you send out the menus? If everyone comes back 100% behind your menu, no problems, all good to go!

    Lucky there is cake then...

No chicken option, and for the prices I'm paying, won't be doing vegetarian!

You like chicken but not quail?

Yep, don't like quail. I think chicken is seen as 'safe'. Most people enjoy chicken and it can be served without sauce etc for the fussy eaters.

But as you're in Oz, you lot have different eating habits etc, you might not think twice about munching on Quail, Koala, kangaroo etc, i prefer to eat proper food ;)
  • How many people have you got coming? And how confident are you that they are "eat whats on their plate" sort of people? At the end of the day that's what matters!!!

  • I too would find it odd that someone wouldn't like quail that liked chicken - as long as it was off the bone not that many people would notice the difference! Lots of people might not have had quail before (or be sure what it was) and be a bit scared to try something new at a function.

On the other hand - I'm always a bit dissapointed if the menu is really safe (unless I know that is the type of food the couple like), particularily if it is a foodie venue (which yours sounds like).

    You'll never please everyone!!

mmm, i would eat any of that as it sounds totally yum.

if you are sure there are no veggies coming then dont worry about providing anything veggies, you know your guests

  • I think your food sounds AMAZING! Don't play it safe, a lot of people 'don't like' food because it's new and they haven't actually tried anything other than boring food. I regularly cook for three people who always tell me they don't like certain food. So I don't tell them what I'm serving. They always love it and come back every week (sometimes twice) for more. Give them an experience and broaden their horizons. :)
