Painting - cutting in

Till now I have always wallpapered and as a result of all these TV programs about getting the most money for your house have decided to paint a room at the young age of 40 (cough)...... I have honestly never done it before.
So I don't have any skirting on at the moment as I am replacing it (no problem there then). I have done a lot of work on the walls to get them perfect.
What I would like to know is how best to cut in between the walls and ceiling. I don't mind spending out a little if there are tools that help....

I hate doing the cutting in it is the worst job in the world. There are special attachments to put on a roller that can be bought. ClickHere for the betterware one.
Other than that a medium sized brush (dont use a tiny one as that makes it worse ???) and a v steady hand.
EDIT
that link doesnt work but when you click on it go to Home ideas, then home ideas againi and the roller set is the 11th one done. at £6.990 -
don't bother with any attacments - waste of money - get caked in paint - buy a cutting in brush that is round with pointed end. Stanley make one with a red handle about £5 from b&q.
use this and get great edges - don't over load the brush as it will run everywhere.
Good Luck!Charles J0 -
Thanks - Wicks don't seem to have one of those brushes wo will look in homebase etc at the weekend. If that doesn't work then I shall definitely try that roller!!
If all else fails, I have some wallpaper and matching linen in the loft. Must have bought it cheap at some time.0 -
Don't buy that cutter in thingy from JML, saw the advert on TV, thought what a good idea, think again.
It doesn't so much cut in as leave a blooming big gap!! - tried to bend it forward to reduce gap but it wasn't having any of it. I use masking tape around doors and on skirtings, bit time consuming but so long as they haven't just been painted it'll be ok.

stop don't by those gadgets they don't work just try masking tape its cheap as chips [£2/£3] aroll thats all you need 8) They call me Mr Pig!0 -
much easier (though maybe a little expensive!):
just take the same approach as the skirtings - slap the paint about as much as you like, then get some coving fitted!0 -

Thats what i am about to do ;D
I can never cut in and end up touching up the ceiling then the wall . looking a bits now that i messed up :-[Number 4 due 21st jan0 -
I solved this by painting the ceiling the same colour as the walls. The shades look different as ceiling was white before.
I like the way it looks and would do it again. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0
