Dads 60th Birthday

Options
Hi, can anyone help me please.

We have bought our father's main birthday gifts but woul like to do something funny for him. We had thought about getting him an application form for a B&Q diamond card and one for his bus pass. It has been suggested that this is insensitive, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Depends on your dad's sense of humour.

What about a beautifully made up pack, with the various application forms?

If you have a good relationship and he's happy, it's not insensitive but FUN.

Tell him to enjoy it, like the crowd on this board!

As an over 60 male, by the time you get to 60 you have learned to laugh at things and not take anything too seriously

He is going to get the mickey taken at work or down the pub anyway, so one more will not hurt

There is a book called Now We Are Sixty.

Had you thought of an 'experience', like driving at Brands Hatch? do check for any exclusions first.

Or a trip in a hot air balloon?

  • On my dad's 60th me & my sis got 60 birthday cards with 60 on (had to put sticky numbers on a couple). Asked a few friends to help write them so different handwriting & sent them all via royal mail. On his birthday the postie put handful through the letterbox, he bent down to pick them up & the postie was still stuffing loads through all over him.
On mum's 60th we got 60 bits of usefull tat: box of elastic bands, washing up sponge, j-cloth, tube of superglue, lightbulb, etc. & wrapped it all seperately.
On my partner's 40th I managed to find 40 different hats as he's always got a hat or cap on.
  • Some great ideas - thank you.

Love the book, but think it will be more fitting for my mum (next year).

    Love the card idea too.

If I were to make a pack of things is there anything anyone could recommend to go with the b&q and bus pass application forms please.

You could include brochures from your local cinema & theatre with the over 60s concessions highlighted. I think there is a Senior Railcard, that'll have an application form.

If he lives in Wales, you can get him an application for free entry to anything run by CADW.

Hope he has a good birthday.

  • I gave my hubby and my brother bus pass application forms and application forms for the annual heating allowance - both thought it was funny.

A three month subscription to his local lap dancing club. (Don't forget to slip some spend money in the birthday card)
