HSBC Plus now HSBC Advance

Effective today, the HSBC Plus bank account has been renamed HSBC Advance.

Most of the account features appear the same, though I think there may also be one or two new ones - existing HSBC Plus customers will be automatically migrated to HSBC Advance.

It appears to be a global effort by HSBC to try and standardise their product offerings/names around the world with 'HSBC Advance' appearing in multiple countries (global website here)

Just a shame the name is so similar to their short lived Current Account Advance that they had here recently in the UK for a short period!

Regards
Sunil

Hah, probably. They haven't reduced the price though so I'm still staying away.
I'd jump in an instant if they removed the 2.75% charge and not just the atm withdrawal fee.

I use my Nationwide Flexaccount to avoid them.;)

You will probably get a very bland looking silver/grey Visa Debit Card, but it will still work OK.. :D:D

You won't get a new one until its either Lost/Stolen, Expired or Damaged...

The new ones are a kind of Orange colour, although thats a really bad description, just can't really find any online at the moment, theres one of the Hong Kong credit card in this link hsbc.com.hk/1/PA_1_3_S5/content/hongkongpws/cards/pdf/advance welcome pack.pdf (there isnt a UK credit card) and you can see the corner of a Debit Card on the Indonesian site hsbc.com.tw/1/2/personal_en/debit/notes

    Hope that makes sense!

oh dont get me wrong - I dont care what it looks like, its just the hassle of having to change the card number everywhere that stores it (amazon, paypal lovefilm etc etc)

Why do they have to keep changing it?

You would be well advised to remove your card details after each transaction anyway, I do.

Less chance of fraud on your account.
  • Lovefilm have it on file for regular payments as do paypal and I use amazon regularly..

I have v good virus protection on my laptop so I dont see the problem - never had an issue yet

Your call, there was a huge thread on here a while back about fraud relating to Play.Com.

Anti Virus protection will not stop any fraud from within a company.
