New PC - which PC? I am useless..

Keep in mind that WoW will run on just about anything with a power supply and a screen. I wouldn't be surprised if someone got it running on a graphical calculator. Still, future expansion packs might push up the system requirements. Just make sure it has at least 1 GB of RAM and a decent-sized hard disk.
Also: WoW runs perfectly well in WINE.0 -
thanks for all this.
jbreckmckye, what is WINE? i told you im useless lol
this is all doing my head in to be honest. building a pc would be completely otu of the question for me, as i wouldnt have a clue what stuff to use, but one thing i have realised is i dont really need to OVER do it, as such. i mean i dont want to spend more money than i have to for something that would be just as adequate for my needs. world of warcraft isnt the primary function and i have to be careful with my son, if i let him get away with it, he thinks he owns the bloomin family pc! and spends far too much time playing wow, or msn'ing, rather than doing college work. im considering telling him that he isnt downloading wow on to this machine to be honest..as i could be waiting for hours to use the pc before when he was in the middle of doing an 'instance' whattever that means...With love, POSR

WINE is a compatibility layer that lets you run Windows applications on Linux. With there being plenty of low-demand Linux distributions, and WoW being so hardware-friendly, that allows you to save on expensive 'high performance' components.0

The fact you are going to play some games warrants the need for a half decent graphics card. Onboard GFX just isn't going to cut it and will give stuttering and poor frame rates in games.
I would suggest this system - the 5750 which absolutely wipe the floor VS an onboard graphics solution so will play games :T 4gb ample memory, decent dual core 2.8ghz CPU, one of the fastest SATA drives the F3 (16-33% faster than standard SATA)
AMD Athlon X2 240 2.80GHz Processor
- Gigabyte AMD 760G Chipset DDR2 PCI-Express Motherboard
- 4GB (2x2GB) 800MHz DDR2 Memory
- ATI Radeon HD 5750 512MB Graphics Card
- Samsung Spinpoint F3 512GB 7200rpm Fast Hard Disk Drive
- DVD Combo Drive
- Xigmatek Asguard Case
- Arianet Stealth 600W Power Supply
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Pre-Installed (CD & License Supplied)

The above looks very good for the price.
I recently built a very similar specification PC for a neighbour using the same CPU and Operating System along with 4GB (2x2GB G.Skill DDR3) and a Seagate 500GB SATAII HDD with a better case but worse graphics card and better motherboard (crossfire am3 asus) for £560 ish a couple of months ago.
The PC I built is very fast and a capable machine especially considering it's low price tag.0 -

Not a bad price, but this ebuyer one is better on paper/ price if you're able to install windows 7 yourself (which is worth it over vista) and find it cheaper than £70. Plus the ebuyer one is in stock
