Alfa GT - feedback?

please no anti-alfa comments.
As an Alfa owner, this is not too difficult. I would personally go for the 2.0 JTS version of the GT, simply because I do not like the sound of the diesel in an Alfa Coupe. I am not 100% convinced about the stying on this car, because I thought that it would be an updated version of my own GTV coupe.
However, Alfa have made ground in the reliability stakes, and there is something special about their cars.
Now for the downside. Servicing and parts are expensive, unless you can do some jobs yourself, and find a good independent. Be prepared to check the oil on a weekly basis, as well as tyre pressures.
I f you find a good one, then Alfas will convert you for life.

I can see where the OP's comming from, there are far too many people on here who don't actually have any experience of the brand or even the disposition to understand why they're sought after but still post negative replies based on nothing more than hearsay.
In answer to the OP's question;
The GT's based on the same chassis and running gear as the much more reliable 147. It even shares an interior so, as with the 147 there are loads of decent toys in there. Go for the ones with heated seats (but make sure they work as the fuse and wiring can burn out), connect nav+ which is a decent phone and nav system and the bose stereo which is the best stereo i've had in a car.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Alfas having diesels and havn't tried the diesel engine in this car but I'm reliably told it's a very good engine. The higher powered one with 150bhp has the lower real world consumption and if you can, go for the q2 version which gives a very clever limited slip diff that totally transforms the car's handling.
And go for red or black of the alfisti will be round to sort you out!0 -
The Alfa/Fiat GM diesels are meant to be some of the better engines out there.0

But it is still a tractor at the end of the day.;)
It is a bit like taking a gorgeous girl home for the first time, she gets slowly undressed, and as she stands there before you, naked, you notice a few bits which shouldn't really be there :eek:

Its the same with a diesel Alfa, you sit inside, admiring the lovely upholstery, and then you turn the key, expecting to hear that lovely, rasping exhaust note, and what do you get?
Massey Ferguson on steroids.;)0 -
