Hi I have a 52 plate corsa and last week the exhaust emissions light came on. Took it to where I normally go and they plugged it into the computer and said it was a faulty sensor, they did something to make the light go out and ordered the sensor in for me, before it came in the light came on again so it obviously needed replacing. Well they did that and all was fine until yesterday when the handbrake went on me on a very steep hill at traffic lights! Twas a tad scary to say the least but I survived.
I took the car to the garage today and they are very busy so it will be at least tomorrow before I get it back. My question is (and I know it's probably very unlikely) but is there any way that they could have done something to the handbrake cable when they replaced the sensor - I admit I know diddly squat about cars (except how to drive them!) but surely the brake cable is underneath the car, and surely the emissions sensor is somewhere within the exhaust system - also under the car, so it could be possible. Just having some doubts about the garage as they are totally crap at communicating, and last time they did something on my hubby's car it had to go back because a light came on and they had forgotten to put something back right.
Anyways, thanks in advance.

Handbrakes on Corsa's are always failing on one side. Just a case of adjustment.
nothing to do with the sensor.0 -
thank you so much - will it be an expensive repair do you think?0

Depends on what they replaced
the emission light is normally an engine management light, so could be anything from the misfire of a spark plug to a fault in the engine0 -
Thanks - that bit's already been done, it's the handbrake I'm wondering about.0

Has the handbrake failed altogether or is it just weak?0
-
failed completely - wasn't holding on a steep hill at lights, so I pulled it up more and it just went kaput!0
