My wife was just accepted for one of these but hasn't been given her credit limit yet.

Has anyone received details of their credit limit yet?

Did you get the balance transfer amount you requested?

you cannot request a specific credit limit, give them a call they might be able to tell you what it is

Quite right, knowing what someone else's limit won't help you find out what yours will be - they calculate it based on personal circumstances. If you're wealthy with little debt you're more likely to get a big limit than if you're striving and / or have large outstanding credit card balances already.

Give them a call and find out ;)

No, but it might give you an idea.
For example Egg Card limits tend to be higher than Egg money as it's a different product designed to be used differntly.
MBNA tend to give high limits.
I think the OP was jsut looking for an idea, although it is of course individual.

Now that the interest on positive balances and the fee free cash withdrawals even when carrying a positive balance have disappeared from Egg Money, is it still designed to be used so differently from the Egg Card and is this change now reflected in the current credit limits being granted?

I think positive balances are still allowed on Egg Money although you don't get interest.
It's the only card you can legally pre-load to my knowledge.

I'm not up on current limits, but I got £3.5K on Egg Money and £15K on Egg Card, so there used to be a big difference.

Of course what it allowed and what is promoted are different things, so maybe Egg aren't encouraging the posistive balances as much, but it's still allowed to my knowledge.
  • I don't know what my limit is yet, but I have noticed the card I wanted to balance transfer from, the balance has now gone down by 4k which was what I requested on the application form.
  • Many thanks for the replies, I was just loooking for some idea if Santander are giving limits matching those on peoples existing cards or alot less than people are requesting for balance transfers.

There have been reports from one member who applied to them for a balance transfer but Santander didn't give enough for the whole balance. From what I've read they are on the stingy side.

MBNA / Virgin are amongst the most generous, Egg can be good also (not Egg Money - the regular card) ;)
