TalkTalk. THE worst telephone company ever to be released on to the unsuspecting British public. Absolutely attrocious.

btw I have just posted my complaint and await with baited breath the outcome.

    Had similar problem with Coop.

I am reporting them to the obundsam for violation of DD terms and switching bank (after over 10 years with them).

    Sounds like co-op to me
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

Except - in your case - it's more your inability to understand the terms of your payment agreement with your energy company.

Update: I received a telephone apology today from the bank and they agreed with the content of my letter. They will be reviewing direct debit refund procedures with the branch concerned and have spoken to the telephone operator in customer services who wrongly advised refund cannot be actioned by telephone . It pays to complain. :)

The OP complained and got the outcome they desired, that's all that matters. Who can say there isn't some conspiracy going on at the bank, but I think it's more likely the staff members concerned were just being incompetent.
