  • I work at Les Charmettes from April till October and its in the perfect position for a walk on the beach before tea, just a 5min car drive away and have a drink at the village of Les Mathes also. Luna Park fairground for the kids is excellent a few mins away, La Palmyre Zoo also - loads to see in the area and dozens of beaches in the vicinity, or try Bonne Anse Plage another Siblu site at Les Mathes.... if you need any other info just ask.......

We stayed just outside of Royan last year - the area is lovely. The thing we loved most is the great cycle paths along the sea front. We were cycling everyday and the whole family loved it. By the end of the 2 weeks, we even managed 20 miles with my 6yr daughter! (Boy did she sleep well that night!)

We did Portsmouth to Le Havre ferry. We made a mistake and drove down directly through Le Mans/Poiters. Although this was the quickest route, this was very expensive in tolls. A much cheaper option would be to drive down through Rennes/Nantes. This would have added an hour to the journey, but saved £100 in tolls i think!

When I got home i found a website you can use to see road prices.

You can also use your tesco vouchers on eurostar - don't know if this helps you or not??

la Pignade - I noticed on the website it was referenced as a quiet park....

I have an 18 yr a 13 yrs old and 2 x 5 yr olds.... not sure if it might be a bit too quiet for us

I know what you mean about the £9 ferries, the portsmouth one is like £250- £300.....so big difference from calais....but then I think if in calais, perhaps Languedoc is an alternative. IF, i go that far, I may as well go to el delfin park in costa dorada....

    AAAAAAAAAAAH this is getting tough

    Hi ...

In terms of ferries - look at ldlines from newhaven to dieppe - takes about 4 hours ,,, fairly reasonable.

I struggled to find a caravan with aircon with siblu. The only one seemed to be at les lac de reves which we booked. Has anyone found any others?

I thought part of the joy staying in a caravan was that you live in a Sauna for 2 weeks?

With Air con at Siblu I think you need to book quite early to find them. I got a quote from Siblu the other day that had air con included. Could try ringing them?
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

play around with ferry timings are thhis greatly effects the pricing.
We're going to Brittany again this yr, and last yr we travelled down to Plymouth and across as Oh would rather drive in this country. But the cost of the Plymouth roscoff ferry was:eek::eek::eek: But even so when you added in tolls and petrol etc it worked out similar costs. Last yr we went in May half term. This yr we're going in August and Britanny ferries wanted almost £700 :eek::eek: So we're going eurotunnel with tesco vouchers then we'll drive and take a packed lunch for the journey. Suits me better cos i get TERRIBLY seas sick and the Roscoff crossing is 5 hours.
Should also add it works out cheaper this way even without using tesco vouchers as the fare on euro tunnel is £162

If you have not seen it before, check out this website. It gives your directions, but more interestingly includes prices of toll roads.
