  • Wash the floor in a solution of bio wash powder. If you get a plastic plant spray container you can keep some solution in that to spray on accidents if it happens again. If this isn't a one off type of thing have you had your cat checked by the Vet as it could have a urine infection.
  • This isn't an old style answer but Simple Solution works well and can be used for cleaning up both animal and human accidents.

I usually buy it from Pets At Home (but it's available at other outlets if you search on the internet). Worth every penny!

  • You can buy a specialist cleaner from contract cleaning suppliers or I would go with the suggestion of getting some simple solution from pets at home.

rub some tomato ketchup on it and leave for an hour or so then remove and wash floor.
It works, I think it probably has something to do with acid/alkali with the ammonia in the wee, but don't quote me! Mind you, don't they wash in tomato juice in the states if they've been skunk sprayed?

Bio washing powder gets the smell out so pets can't smell as well as humans so they will be less tempted to repeat. The expensive products you can buy from pet stores are also enzyme based.

I will second that. It is brilliant.

I have used it for our old car which used to rain in, it rottted the carpet in the boot and it stank to high heaven. A few squirts of this stuff did the job.

Whenever we go away (always with the dog) I always squirt around the flat before we leave just in case it smells. I don't think it ever does as we have a Lhasa Apso who is always kept clean and smells lovely but I am always a bit paranoid if we go away with her.

Have asked this before and am now sure i have tried EVERYTHING i can think of to remove the smell and other than a new floor i am at a loss. Being a fairly new floor i am not best pleased.

Our eldest cat (7) weed on our kitchen floor a few times months ago..i posted about it and aside from the fact i got told he was in some way ill i'm pretty sure now he wasn't as doesn't do it now and nothing changed etc but obviously the smell is still there.

I have tried so much stuff the lastest being Zoflora as says removes pet smells etc and nothing, thought it would owrk as pretty potent but nope..i have scrubbed it with bleach, bicarb, febreeze, washing up liquid, bio powder, detergent, hand soap!..like i said over weeks it has been cleaned and cleaned and i have a feeling it has soaked into the floor.

Any ideas before i get the floor fitters out as had enough tbh!

    Thanks x
  • Sounds like it has seeped through to the floor - if it has the only recourse is to lift the vinyl and sprinkle crushed charcoal over, leave for a few days; longer if possible to absorb the smell, or paint with a paste made of bicarb and water or go to pets at home and buy a urine neutraliser

My friends cats go through a phase of peeing inside every few months - I think they are marking thier territory! I digress though. The pets at home pee stuff does work for them. I'd say give that a go then first. It's an orangeish liquid I think with a pump squirt.

I can't see the one I am thinking of on pets at home but this looks liek it would be a good shot!
