Writing a US cheque

I need to send someone a cheque (or should that be a check?) in US dollars. I have a USD account and a USD chequebook and everything should be fine.
But I've never written a US check before, so I googled to see if the formatting was different. The main thing seems to be regarding the amount in words.
On a UK cheque for £1.23 you write:
"One pound 23p=============="
On a US check for $1.23 you write
"One and 23/100================ DOLLARS"
where DOLLARS is preprinted.
But what do you write for $123.00? I couldn't find an example. Do you write:
"One hundred and twenty three 0/100===="
or
"One hundred and twenty three======"
or something else?
I don't want to send the cheque all the way to the US to find it's rejected for some formatting error.

It's unlikely to be rejected, however: http://www.squidoo.com/how-to-write-a-checkI don't want to send the cheque all the way to the US to find it's rejected for some formatting error.Even if the check is for an amount with no cents, don't leave off the cents part. Write "One Hundred Twenty-Three and NO/100" to make it harder for someone to alter the amount.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
Thanks. The date tip is very handy - I usually write dates on automatic!0
