Online Energy Saver 9 Dual Fuel from ScottishPower - your thoughts?
Options
Hi!
For this plan , Online Energy Saver 9 Dual Fuel from ScottishPower, I can not find details as to how frequently you have to provide the meter readings - monthly or quarterley or yearly?? What if you forget? If anybody is on this plan, what are your experiences and how easy is it to manage it online?
Thanks for your help!

Hi saaya2020
The online tariff requires you to update a meter reading once every 91 days. You can, if you wish, update your meter reading more regularly than this. If you do not update a meter reading within the 91 days and you ignore 2 reminder emails that we send to you, we simply estimate your quarterly statement based on previous consumption.
The online tariffs are very easy to manage. Your online account, over a period of time, will keep a record of the gas and electricity you have consumed. If you stay with SP over a long period of time on the online account, you can compare consumption year after year. As all consumption is recorded, it makes it an excellent tool to help become more energy efficient.
See the link below for further information on the benefits of our online tariff.

Scottish Power have the most useful and easiest online system I have seen. The other suppliers' sites are an embarrassment.
They are not bad at all and website looks nice and friendly enough. Need to say that E-On's online system is even easier. I just switched to thier Online Energy Saver 9 and being it person still can not find my tarrif plan or prices for other plans.0 -
I am on Online Energy Saver 9 Dual Fuel from ScottishPower. The contract finishes on 31st March 2011 and I received an email the other day saying that :
"We are writing to advise you of an increase in our energy prices because of rising wholesale energy costs. On average, customers on standard prices will notice a gas increase of 2%* and an electricity increase of 8.9%**...."
What are my options?
Should I leave / but are there any penalty clauses?
Are there any realy good deals outh there at the moment?
If I stay with Scottish Power, what will happen after March 31st?
Any advice would be very welcome!
Thanks in advance0 -

Don't forget to read the page on the moneysavingexpert main site about switching energy suppliers. I'd use something reasonably reliable such as uswitch.com to figure out which is the best tariff for my usage but not use it to actually switch supplier. Then I'd cross reference the best options with what I can get in terms of cashback on sites such as quidco.com not forgetting to check which tariffs have cancellation charges.0 -
Can't we have a 'burn at the stake' monthly event where posters get burned and banished forever for dragging up very old threads rather than starting a new one? Pleeease? Yeah ok, I'm evil and twisted, I accept that.
(Wasn't aimed at you Mech btw)

I'm in the same boat, I think. I've just had an email to say the tariff finishes at the end of March and that if I do nothing they will switch me to "Online Energy Saver 9 (April 2012) Offer", which has higher prices, but still guarantees to be 3% lower than the std monthly DD prices until March 2012.
It also says if I cancel the new tariff (by switching to another gas and/or electricity supplier or by requesting to change your gas and/or electricity to another of our tariffs) after 30th April 2011 and before 31st March 2012, they may apply cancellation charges inclusive of VAT of £30.64 for electricity and £20.42 for gas.
So I have a month to switch.
The question is: should I?0 -
I have had the same e/mail with the same dates.Have been looking at EON.their elec.prices are about the same as S.P but their gas is slightly cheaper. If you go through Quidco you can get £50 cash back0
