Options
hi,
i got fully comprehensive car insurance with ecar insurance.
national windscreen has done windscreen replacement on my car on 5/4/2009. i have given the my policy details when they do the job, they asked me to pay my access £60. now 8/1/10 got a letter with the invoiced amount of £192.41 to pay as my insurance company rejected them to pay.
==my first question is are they legally allowed to ask me to pay this huge amount after a year though they did not give any quotation before.
==is there any way i can avoid to pay as i am struggling to survive now a days.
please help me out. i would be grateful to you.

Did you ask your insurance company before getting the work done? did you employ national to do the job or did the Ins Co.?0
-
I'm guessing you didnt have windscreen cover with your insurance or didnt have cover for the full year?
Did you sign any paperwork when you had the windscreen replaced?0 -
Have you asked the Insurance company why they have not/will not pay up?
Assuming that your Policy is with http://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk/
then
Sect 6 of your Policy should be:Section 6. Windscreen/Glass Cover
We will pay for a broken or damaged windscreen, windows or glass sunroofs in Your Car and scratching of the bodywork
caused by them breaking.
You will pay £60 (the excess) towards each claim for a broken windscreen or windows. If the damage is repairable and
does not require a replacement windscreen or window, then the excess does not apply.
Provided You contact the Glass Help Line on 0845 219 0594 to arrange for replacement or repair of Your windscreen
or windows, the cover supplied by this Policy will be unlimited. However, if any other repairer is used then cover will be
restricted to £100.00 less the standard Excess.
Any payment under Section 6 solely for the breakage of Your windscreen or windows shall not affect any entitlements to
no claims discount.0 -
Seems like the OP went to National Windscreens for the replacement rather than using Glass Help Line who I think are Direct Vehicle Glass.
Because you haven't used the approved suppliers you would be liable for the cost. Glass Help Line would have given trade/volume discount to eCar.The man without a signature.0 -
The answer is yes they can ask you to pay their normal rates. You did have a quotation - on the assumption your insurance company would pay the balance. But it doesn't really matter if you didn't - it's not vital to the transaction.
For whatever reason this turned out to be a lie - inadvertent I hope. They are entitled to the rest of their money. You will have agreed to it at the time.0
