I bought a used car from a garage last year. It broke down almost immediately and they took it back and promised to repair it for free. That was 8 months ago! They're still promising to fix it but just never do. Is it wise to take legal action now or better to keep on waiting and hoping? I've had to pay insurance all this time and it's costing me a fortune.

8 months??! What are they saying is wrong with it?
Obviously I don't know the fully story, but if a garage had my car for even 1 month, I'd be getting a bit concerned if there still appeared to be no progress. If it's taken 8 months, I would definitely be seeking advice.
What is the value of the car? Have you actually seen it in the past 8 months?
To me it sounds like empty promises. I for one would definitely *not* be waiting and hoping - the fact it's been 8 months shows that waiting and hoping is getting you nowhere.0 -
No that's absolutely normal, please be patient yours is not the only car the garage has to work on, they will be in touch for collection when all is OK.0

i dont know weather to take seriously or not my judgement tells me that this is a troll.
1. who waits 8 months not contacting the garage.
2. why is there no details or "vent" about the garage's attitude, what went wrong with the car and what car it is.
3. repair for free and no mention of waranty.
4. how is the the situation costing the op? even if he had the car in possesion he'd pay more because of fuel, insurance, tax, etc.
op youd have to pay for insurance anyway! at whatever cost.
