  • Sound advice - many thanks indeed.

    Will stick to the centre.
  • Not that I am biased ;o) but, the best place to stay in Glasgow is Edinburgh.

I used to live in the G42 area (2 years ago) that is more the Shawlands, Langside, Battlefield area. I can honestly say I felt safe walking home at 11pm after work. It is a bit further down the road from Glasgow Green but if are looking to rent a flat for your stay I would recommend it. its great for transport 9buses all day and night to city centre) loads to do, great shops, infact they say the Southside is the new West End (whatever that means lol).

Tbh Glasgow green area after dark is not somewhere id feel safe walking around.
Im not from Glasgow but ended up staying there for 10 years as I loved it so much. I never once felt threatened.

Let's face it you are not safe anywhere nowadays.
I worked in Bridgeton for years in the 60's & could leave a car in the street unlocked overnight, with the key inside & guarantee that it would not be touched. Into the late 70's & it could not be left safely at all at any time of day.
I have friends all over the city & they report that no area is safe & there is a high crime rate in small towns & villages up & down the west coast.
I have no knowlege of the east coast.

Had to laugh at that (I'm from Edinburgh originally). That said, there's plenty rough bits in Ediburgh too.

I wouldn't try to economise with Glasgow accomodation if it were me, I'd just accept that the better places nearer the centre are gonna cost more.
