G40 AREA Glasgow - ok as a base?

Hi,

We are hoping to stay in the G40 area of Glasgow.

We are a family of 5 - a bit like the Grizwalds if I'm honest :D (National Lampoon films).

Neither adults drive - so we will be using public transport and it will be in October.

Will it be ok for us to stay around that area? (Hope that doesn't sound insulting, it's not meant to).

Many thanks for any reply.xx.

Just did a search on the G40 area and it seems to cover a few different areas, do you know the name of the area you will be staying in?

Yes, just across the road from the people's palace - called Glasgow Green.

am asking is it safe to walk around there at night - if you say "Don't touch it with a bargepole" I won't book it but if it's a place you would be happy to walk through from the city centre.

It is ok to go and visit during the day, but not sure I would stay there and be out and about at night with the kids. It is on a lot of transport routes though.

  • As others have said, you would be better staying in the city centre, plenty of accomodation to choose from and fantastic transport links for round the city
  • generally its rough, even during the day you will see some sights you may wish to avoid.

Just go here and read all the facts about the area (enter a postcode for accurate results) you get the staistics on schools, crime rate, facilities and amenities etc etc

  • Others seem to be avoiding the real issue. Around this area is a red light area and there is a large homeless place fairly near. I used to work here and was fine during the day but didn't like it during the darker evenings. I'm not saying you would come to any harm but there is no point in taking chances when you have children.
