London Gazette and data protection

The London Gazette can hold details of your bankruptcy for up to 103 (yes one hundred and three) years. Does anyone know where, in law, it says that they can store this information which is available to the public on the internet for that length of time? Does the Human Rights Act and/or the Data Protection Act not provide protection with regards to privacy issues? I can understand credit reference agencies recording the bankruptcy for 6 years, but my credit history would appear to be freely available to all. If I committed a crime, you could only access this information from doing a CRB check... surely there is a legal argument that advertising such information over a period of 103 years is not in the interests of anyone and a breach of the data protection act?

It is not a breach of the data protection act as it is public information. Whether it should be is a matter for debate

  • Bankrupts can bring down society, anyway, it dates back to wjhen all judges were rich and lent banks money, so its easy to guess why all BRs must suffer it...

  • Why is my BR history available when MPs expenses (taxpayers money) are carefully hidden?

I have no idea, why are marriage, birth and death information open to public record

  • Its hard to believe this is true - BUT it is.

This is unbelievable, could you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 600 employees and has the following employee statistics:
29 have been accused of spouse abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
9 have been accused of writing bad cheques
17 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
84 have been arrested for drink driving in the last year ...and collectively, this year alone, they have cost the British tax payer £92,993,748 in expenses!!!

    Which organization is this ?

It's the 635 members of the House of Commons, the same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us inline.

What a bunch we have running our country - it says it all..

And just to top all that they probably have the best 'corporate' pension scheme in the country!!
