    Congratulations!!! :D
  • CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is such happy news for Valentines day, how did he propose!?!?!

Gosfield Hall is stunning and I know someone that booked there last minute and yes that price was amazing, but any other time and it is very expensive. Are you looking in Essex? Me and faince had a look at alot of places around here some are so beautiful!

As for Hatton Gardens, we did the same thing, the only advice I can give is read up on diamonds (what's a good grade etc etc) and haggle haggle haggle! Our ring was on the cheaper side but we still managed to get a good chunk off!!

Yay i love engagements!!!! Congrats again :-)

I've been lurking on this site for a while, so it's great to be able to contribute as a wedding organiser now. :T
I've already read up on cut, colour, clarity and carat. I don't want anything too big but I have large fingers so nothing too small either. Colour I figure H, I or G should be fine, just as long as it doesn't look yellowish. I quite like Emerald cut with baguette shoulders but I wont know until I look properly and try them on. From what I've read about clarity, VSI or SI should be okay as you can't see the imperfections with the naked eye and therefore I won't need to pay for better. Any further advice would be accepted.

I'd like platinum but not sure my 'fiance's' budget will stretch that far. He suggested Argos!!! I'm scared to haggle though.

I'm from Essex so we'll probably look there for venues, especially as there are so many lovely ones in Essex. We currently live in South East London and he has some family in South West so London or Kent are also possibilities. I find it difficult to search for venues in London as there are so many and it's hard to restrict searches to just South/East London rather than the whole of London.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
  • kynthia the only thing i could suggest about engagement rings would be go and look in shops and find what you want / what suits you and then try a jeweler to see what their prices are like. The cost of my engagement ring was more than halved when i did this and i have actually got more diamond in it than in the original shop - which wasnt one of the dearer places anyway. This was really helpful as wed just got our own place, the only problem i could think of is that this was before the rise in the cost of gold (nov 08) but surely shops would increse prices as well?

oh and the haggling i dont like this either but i hesitated when the guy said the price and he gave us an extra discount anyway.
