anyone built a paddling pool?
Hi,
I'm wanting to build a paddling pool for my daughter as I hate all those nasty plastic ones and want something to fit in with my garden.
I was thinking of doing it from sleepers lined with pond liner but I think I'll need something on top to cope with being stood on and to stop toys damaging it and also be non slip/easy to clean
I'm only wanting it to be something to dip your feet in on a hot day rather than a small swimming pool type thing.
Any ideas for what I could use?
Thanks

Ive no idea other than as you say with pond liner - but chances are it would tear over time.
Are you sure you want it permanently in your garden? For me it would be a huge waste of space for how many times it would be used.
Guess it depends how old your children are but if young would be unsafe. Then you would have the hasstle of hanging the dirty water.0 -
The good thing about cheap plastic pools is that you can empty and refill them with clean water easily. I can't see how you're going to do that with a permanent little pool (as opposed to a properly plumbed in swimming pool). Consequently the water in it will get stagnant, green and smelly within a few days.0

You would need to use swimming pool chemicals to stop it going green. We have an easy up pool (like an enormous paddling pool) and it needs regular tending to keep the leaves out and chemicals to keep it usable. And that's just when we have it up for a month or so in the summer. I can't see how you could stop a year round paddling pool from turning into a pond.
Mind you, they have swimming ponds in one of the magazines I buy so guess this is the organic way, if you don't mind paddling in green water.0
