Preparing my Ipod touch for sale

I have a 2nd Gen Ipod touch 8GB and its becoming clear that I need much more room to be able to hold my music collection.
A couple of questions:

- Is there anything that I should do to prepare for sale ie when someone buys it can they connect it straight to their computer? Will they need my username and password?
- I'm not looking to deceive anyone here but as I have the updated software with voice notes etc is it fair to describe my 2nd gen as a 3rd gen iPod touch? (Am I right in thinking software is the difference in the 8GB version?)

1. Connect to itunes and use the restore feature that will restore it to the original.
