As has already been pointed out by a few people the dealer is under no real obligation to carry out the order. They can if they wish cancel it and refund the deposit, most dealers will have something to this effect in the T+C's in their order form. They do of course have to return any deposit.
Theoretically it is possible to go to court but a judge would never make them honour it (specific performance) unless it happened to be a particularly rare or collectable car. You would be advised to sue for any foreseeable losses which is unlikely to more than a tank of petrol.
It sucks and the T+C's are weighted in favour of the dealer but this is why they have them in the first place! It does little to protect you as purchaser. Buyer beware and all that.0 -
