    simple, phone HMRC explain what you are doing and that you are reg as SE then ask them for advice on how best to keep accounts etc....

    Money mabel just had a thought about wedding fairs. if they would be too stressful and expensive how about finding one that you think would be good. getting a list of exhibitors and contacting one to ask if they would consider a small display of your leaflets or maybe even a couple of pieces for a contribution towards the cost of their stand??? you could do a blog piece about them and a link too.

  • Wayne, it won't effect you also before registering you have a three month grace period before having to register with the tax people. They do this just in case you decide not to continue. But, make sure you have saved your receipts.

    but you will be self employed. as well as working for the council.... you really need to a aware of all of these basic things before you start a business..... If you get stung with stuff like this are you likely to loose your job if you are a local government employee??? Are you allowed to have a second job?? some companies write it into their employees contracts that they are not allowed to hold a second job without permission....
