I think you may have to, I've had a quick look and I can't see anywhere to follow it unless I'm logged in then I can follow other blogs.

That's why I'm happy in Newcastle, less than half an hour in one east I have the north east coast and half an hour west I can be in beautiful countryside.

I'm hvaing a stressed out about money day. Caused by checking our account this morning nad realising that even on a month with no council tax, hubby STIll ha managed to take us further into our overdraft. We are so near the end of the overdraft I know it cna't go on and he just seems utterly incapabale of living within a budget.

What's getting me is that I KNOW I am sitting in the money that could have us living debt free!

Our flat is worth at least £20,000 more than our mortgage. And I've seen flats which are in a much worse area of town but where I grew up, and I KNOW the area well and they are cheaper than our mortgage now. So theoretically we could sell this flat, make £20,000 profit, use that to clear out debts and buy a cheaper flat which is twice as big as this one (so we wouldn't be cramped with stuff and I could have an actual room to do my art in, instead of in the living room). But will hubby consider it? Noooooooooooo. He just says "It's something to consider if things get bad". uh? it already is bad.

give him pocket money! We have x amount each every month.... all the bills are covered and if OH spend his money then though... and vice versa....

i know how you feel osu, my OH has no concept of the worth of a pound, and thinks gas and leccy last forever! probably beacuse he was born with a silver spoon in mouth.
me on the other hand , is a blo0dy hardworker (if i do say so myself!) and is debted up to the eyeballs, but to give us a better life in the future.
dont get me wrong OH is a generous person and has no personal debt himself but would rather have flash car/designer clothes/expensive watch now, were as i on the other hand HOPEFULLY should be mortage free on 2 houses by the time i an 45. and if that means going without through my late 20's and 30's then so be it!

I kind of WISH my OH was spending it on designer goods, at least then I'd know where it went!

After bills and grocery there is around £290 left in our main account which is his money for the month. That is money for buses, coffees at work, food when he's out (though I make him packed lunches) and whatever else. Now to me that is LOTS but he goes through it like water.

The problem with me giving him money is that I am partially house-bond so he has to take the money out of the account anyway and it just ends up back to normal. I will ahve to get tougher on him and if he spends his money, it's spent and that's that.

*sigh* Anyway back to trying to make more money and clear our debt the slow way, while I dream of a new big, cheap house. :D

Wish I could help but OH fritters it on the same carp, says he doesn't know where it goes, then when I am doing the washing, I fid reciepts for McDonalds, cigarettes (we have a cupboard full of baccy from France), he will "just pop in" to Tesco on the way home and buy a lump of steak, meet with fellow fishermen in the local cafe, when he has a room, kettle and a million mugs less than 10 metres from the cafe door etc etc etc. Fed up with it, so I have taken to going into town, drawing out £30, spending £10-15 and hiding the rest in a box, he doesn't have a clue how much I spend and accepts it when I say we ran out of nappies or something similar. I have about £200 in the box atm (have been stashing since Jan), sadly OH is a prat and doesn't think about bills, so that is what it is going to be put towards, but at least they are getting paid.
    turn £100 into £10000 in 2010 member #16 £567.68/£10,000 - :(

  • A big hug to all having a less than perfect day...especially when it's caused by other people - grr!

Right hand back in the support - this is the worst my RSI has ever been, and ironically, this is the most sensible I've ever been with it in terms of rest/computer breaks etc. Movelat is my friend today.

Hales - goal for the week - making the most of cashback :)

Paula - LOVE your necklace a few pages back. Just the kind of thing I wear. As soon as I have some money, I'll be back to buy.

Waiting for all the tiny cheques and PayPal payments, so that I can add a total...I really need them to stay motivated. I know how much is outstanding but until I can see it on a balance screen, it's not mine :(

Oh well, onward...and to quote myself "send chocolate...and an otter"
    Stage one - declutter
Stage two - sell the clutter
Stage three - turn the money into more money
Stage four - pat self on back

I wish I didn't have to think about bills, that's where all our money goes.
Before we had kids we just wasted money left, right and centre. When my wife had our DD she had just changed jobs so only got basic maternity and we lived on our credit cards and now we are paying for it. but at least we have a clear picture of where we stand. I want to be able to bring in enough money so my wife can drop her hours after this maternity leave, and although I know we will never be super rich (unless the lottery comes in for us) we will hopefully be in a position to keep on top of our money and teach our children the value of it.
