Tesco Advertising ?????

Morning All
Has anyone suffered the same as me, 130210 large advert in Sun for Tuna x 4 185g £2. A bargain, I read the small print, "Selected Stores and online".
I went to all our towns stores, Metro, Express and Superstore offer NOT available in any, managers would not even honour as a gesture of goodwill.(North Wiltshire major town 200000 + population)
Well I am sorry Tesco you have decieved me and I suspect others and have now lost a reliable customer due to you deception and implied methods of advertising.

Q Did anyone get the Tuna?

  • Just looked online (Poole, Dorset Store) and the offfer isn't available there.

They do have their own brand 4 x 185g for £2.50 (down from £3.25) and Princes Tuna Chunks Spring Water 4x185g half price, down from £5.39 to £2.69.

    But nothing for £2.

I've had problems with them in the past where the local paper occasionally included a handout advertising Tesco's offers, but when you went in store, most of those offers weren't available. The main problem I'm having with Tesco at the moment is the inconsistency of their pricing instore e.g. Doritos were advertised at 2 for £2 or £1.55 each at the end of an aisle, but clearly labeled as £1 each when you get to the crisp aisle. It's the same with Pringles that are advertised as any 2 for £2 at the end of the aisle, but when you get there, the extreme ones are listed as half price 99p, the original, cheese and onion ones are 74p, but not marked as being on offer, but if you want prawn cocktail flavour then they're £2.03.

At least the advertising said at selected stores only, its as the advert says "selected stores only"
  • Sainsbury's have currently got the 4 pack of Viva Tuna at £2.49 (I think) and 4 packs of John West at just slightly more than that. It's not as a good a deal as the Tesco one, but if you live in the large North Wiltshire town I'm thinking of, I know of at least two branches of Sainsbury's that have got that offer :)

Found online for my local store
  • Surely if they advertise the offer as being in selected stores only then they're not deceiving you if it's not in your local store?? The Sun is a national paper...

I hate Tesco as much as the next person and shop at Morrisons and Asda far more than I used to even though they're further away, but I can't see that there's anything wrong with this advert?!
  • I found it in my local store for £2, but they are also marked up at £3 for the same tins. So it might be in most store but they havent put the correct pricing up.

The OP says that the "Selected stores" was in the small print. IMO this is done to deceive people. If they advertise an offer then the "in selected stores only" bit should be just as big and prominent as the offer. By tucking it away in the small print they are hoping some people will not see it, and go to their local store for the offer.

And if it isn't available in their local store, they will buy something else instead.
but I can't see that there's anything wrong with this advert?!

The advert will be legal, but IMO it sets out to deceive people, therefore it is wrong.
