Help with archiving in outlook xp please

So, my outlook folders are getting a little large, so I'm trying to archive everything over n months old to an archive .pst.

I have set what I want to happen in 'default folder settings for Archiving' (tools... options.... other.... autoarchive).

All my folders had 'Do not archive items in this folder' selected in the AutoArchive tab of their properties. I can change this on a single folder to 'Archive items in this folder using the default settings'. Running file... Archive... 'Archive all folders according to their AutoArchive settings works fine, except......

1. How can I set 'Archive items in this folder using the default settings' for all the subfolders in a given folder (some of my folders have hundreds of subfolders)? Setting all folders to 'Archive items in this folder using the default settings' and turning off the exceptions would be just as easy.

2. How do you make the default for a new folder to be 'Archive items in this folder using the default settings'?

TIA

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

Thanks ABH, but those links don't address the problems I having. AutoArchiving obviously won't archive items in folders that have the 'Do not archive items in this folder' set as all my folders currently have (unless I change the property for each folder one by one, which would take rather a long time). Additionally, when I create a new folder I want this setting to default to 'Archive items in this folder using the default settings' rather than 'Do not archive items in this folder'.

Try Tools --> Options --> Other --> Autoarchive, then 'Apply the settings to all folders' option.

Yep, tried that. You'd have thought it would do the job, but no, it doesn't change the properties of all the folders from 'Do not archive items in this folder'. It does seem to change the top level folders, since it changed this setting for the calendar which I don't want archiving.

Hmm, the way it should work is:

Are you running Outlook with Exchange Server? If so this product might do what you want: http://www.symprex.com/products/aam. 30 day trial.

Otherwise you could do it programmatically using Outlook VBA.

Yeh, as is it says: 'You can set AutoArchive settings on each individual folder'. But not how to set it for all folders within a given folder, although Toxteth_OGrady's suggestion looks like it should do want I want. OL 2002 SP3 if it makes any difference.
