What to do with apple jelly

Last year I was given a big box of bramley apples which i turned into apple jelly. It is really delicious, however as I don't eat pork, I am struggling for idea of what to do with it. I still have a couple of jars left which I will give away as presents, but have one large opened one that I have not a clue what to do with! Similarly I have half a jar of cranberry jelly, but there is already a thread on here for using that up. Though I don't eat chocolate, I will make some cranberry brownies for the gannets I work with.

Do you eat chicken? I make a version of the Pork Normandy with chicken instead of pork, sliced apples, veg, stock etc. and a good dollop of apple jelly goes very well in that.My neighbours went to Normandy last year and brought me a lovely big jar of Artisan 'Gelee aux Pommes' and I hadn't a clue what to do with it, so I had to be creative! It's nice on pancakes too, with a bit of whipped cream. :)

  • My hubby puts it on cheese sandwiches. Not to my taste, but I thought I'd throw it into the mix anyway!

I had a jar of quince jelly and stirred a tblspnful into gravy & casseroles & it was lovely. You can do the same with redcurrant so can't see why apple would be any different. Could you chop some mint into it & use it with lamb? I used to make apple & mint jelly & serve it instead of mint sauce.i

  • Fruit jellies are just jam without the bits. We eat them on bread and toast for breakfast.

I've tried the apple on toast, and it didn't quite go...

  • Use it to make apple buns - Basically make up a sponge mix, add a little cinnamon or cloves to the apple and you can either put it into the batter and cover with a bit more sponge or just bake plain cakes and use an apple corer to take out the top bit - fill with apple and cream and pop the bit of sponge back on - (butterfly cakeish) Hope this makes sense - bit high on pain killers today - bloody weather !
