seat belt re mot

If there are signs of fraying on edge drivers seat belt will this be an mot failure or can you cover it with duck tape?

The seat belt was like this when OH purchased the car last year and it came with a new mot. The fraying part was already covered with duck tape.

Use a fag lighter and burn the fraying edges.
